A Queensland police officer who shot and killed a dangerous detainee was not told of the man's violent criminal history and "didn't even know his name" before she was attacked, the Coroner's Court has heard.Details of his violent past were not relayed to all of the guarding officersThe officer was sent to Ipswich Hospital to guard Tyson Jessen, 28, who was arrested on an extradition warrant by police in November 2018, before suffering a medical episode.
That hearing was told Senior Constable Leesa Richardson and her partner had taken over watching Jessen on the day of his death, and that during the evening she had been left alone with him.The earlier hearing had been told during the struggle Senior Constable Richardson was punched several times in the face before she shot Jessen three times and fatally wounded him.
The court heard senior employees at the station had been warned Jessen was a dangerous and high-risk prisoner, and they had been briefed on the extent of his violent past.Senior Constable Lees Richardson was attacked by Jessen, the court heard.
