Premier Daniel Andrews says regional Victoria is on “the cusp of taking the next step” toward a COVID normal after the state recorded zero new infections overnight outside of metropolitan Melbourne.
Premier Daniel Andrews says regional Victoria is on “the cusp of taking the next step” after the state recorded zero new overnight coronavirus cases in rural areas. “That is a testament to the hard work and absolute determination of regional Victorians to … get these numbers low and keep them low,” he said.
The Victorian Premier said “the metro 14-day rolling average to 11 September is 54.4 cases, in regional Victoria it has dipped below 4 and it is now 3.9”. “That is positive proof that this is not a theoretical exercise, it is a strategy that is working”. Fatalities in Victoria have now risen to 729 with one person in their 70s, two in their 80s and four in their 90s. All of the fatalities were linked to aged care outbreaks.
