NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian is under pressure to overhaul funding for the corruption watchdog as Labor and crossbench MPs move to capitalise on her appearance at an inquiry into her former lover.
Leader of the Shooters, Robert Borsak, said: "There is a clear conflict of interest when the ICAC is beholden to the Premier at the time when she is giving evidence in an ICAC inquiry".Ms Berejiklian's week began with a barrage of questions about her relationship with disgraced MP Daryl Maguire, who is being investigated by the ICAC for using his position as a politician for financial gain.
The ICAC's annual funding bids are first considered by the Department of Premier and Cabinet and NSW Treasury before being signed off by cabinet's expenditure review committee.
