Aussie cricket star James Faulkner has been handed a lifetime ban from the Pakistan Super League over sensational claims of “reprehensible” behaviour and counter claims of missed payments.
The 31-year-old made explosive allegations on social media he had made a decision to leave the competition immediately after claiming to have been lied to about payments for his involvement with the Quetta Gladiators.
Pakistan cricket officials have denied his allegations and released a lengthy statement claiming it had paid 70 per cent of Faulkner’s contract to his British bank account in December. “In the seven years of the HBL Pakistan Super League, no player has ever complained about the nonfulfillment of the PCB’s contractual obligations.
The statement alleges Faulkner threatened and refused to participate in his side’s match against Multan Sultans on Friday afternoon until his money demands were met.It confirmed Faulkner left the country on Saturday. “In wake of the above, and taking serious note of Mr James Faulkner’s gross misconduct that was an attempt to bring the PCB, Pakistan cricket and the HBL Pakistan Super League into disrepute, it has been unanimously agreed by the PCB and the franchises that Mr James Faulkner will not be drafted in future HBL Pakistan Super League events,” the statement outlined.Faulkner was a standout performer in the Pakistan Super League last year, snaring 13 wickets in six games at an economy rate of 6.
