Resident Ahmed Dini calls on the Victorian Government to outline a strategic exit plan for the 3,000 residents of the public housing towers in North Melbourne and Flemington who have been unable to leave their homes since Saturday.
He also wants those who test positive to be allowed to leave their homes and go into hotel quarantine.Mr Dini said the worst outcome would be leaving hard lockdown, going into stage three restrictions and "find ourselves with more people becoming sick."
Health authorities said the drastic lockdown was necessary because of the nature of the buildings, where many people live in close quarters and share laundries and lifts. The residents were shocked by the sudden nature of the lockdown and were left unable to gather supplies before they were ordered into their homes with police standing guard.
