More than 100,000 containers at major ports across the country are now caught up in an indefinite waterfront dispute as retailers fear delays at docks in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Fremantle could threaten Christmas stocks

National employer association Ai Group chief executive Innes Willox said the industrial action was causing further disruption to Australia's international supply chains, which were already on the brink of collapse because of domestic and international COVID-related shut downs. MUA national secretary Paddy Crumlin said the claims against it were "nonsense" and had made US president Donald Trump "look like a truth-sayer".
Prime Minister Scott Morrison attacked the union on Tuesday for "effectively engaging in a campaign of extortion against the Australian people" as it prepares to face the industrial umpire.
