Rhonda Fahey says she was confused when she received a knock on the door from two police officers who had come to evict her into homelessness.

Rhonda Fahey was evicted by the Queensland Department of Housing about three weeks ago. Rhonda Fahey felt scared and confused when she received a knock on the door from two police officers who had come to evict her into homelessness.

Ministerial correspondence provided to the ABC shows Ms Fahey was evicted due to the "unhealthy housing situation" she was living in due to hoarding tendencies.Ms Fahey said she could not understand why the Department of Housing, Local Government, Planning and Public Works evicted her from her home. The 54-year-old Salvation Army volunteer said she declined the department's offers to be housed elsewhere, saying she wanted to stay in her home."The cat came to my door and I fed it and it stayed with me because the cat found me.She said her cat, Mummy Spirit, was trapped in the house for three days when the department boarded up her home.

Paul Slater from the charity Northwest Community Group said he was appalled Ms Fahey had been evicted onto the streets, given her mental state.Mr Slater said Ms Fahey had difficulties understanding what was happening to her but the department had made minimal efforts to accommodate her needs."They've evicted her through an official process when she wasn't able to have anyone stand up for her.
