Ribble Valley Borough Council has been issued cash by the Affordable Warmth Grant
Grants to help vulnerable and lower-income Ribble Valley people to improve their home heating systems and boilers are being launched.
However, a council officer said the funding was linked to health budgets, so applicants had to meet both requirements – a total income under £31,000 and also a health vulnerability, as listed in the conditions. Conservative Coun Stephen Atkinson, who is also leader of Ribble Valley Council, said all council leaders in Lancashire had been discussing another government grant scheme for households, called Eco4.
He added: “Perhaps it can be supplemented by money from another pot? I believe our landlord and tenant scheme could supply another £40,000. There is little demand for that so we could add it to the pot, to help more people this winter.”
