NRL: New Canberra recruit Jayden Brailey is ready to fight for his spot as the Raiders dummy half in 2026.
Angus Crichton is set to make a decision on his future in the coming months, with the Roosters gun to sit down with his management this weekend to discuss a potential code switch .Crichton is heavily considering a move to rugby union when his current contract with the Roosters ends at the conclusion of next season.
The former schoolboys union star is weighing up a contract extension with the Chooks, a Japanese rugby stint or remaining in Australia to play for a Super Rugby club.WHAT'S GAMBLING REALLY COSTING YOU? With the World Cup on home turf in 2027, Crichton could position himself to be picked in the Wallabies squad for that tournament if he heads to Japanese rugby as their season begins in late 2026. Of course, if he impresses for a Super Rugby team in 2027, he’ll be a strong chance of making the squad for the October-November World Cup. There are reports that Super Rugby teams have already contacted Crichton’s management to express their interest if the 29-year-old becomes available. If Crichton makes the switch, he’d be the third Roosters star in recent times that has departed for rugby union following Joey Manu and Joseph Suaalii. While he’s a free agent and able to negotiate with other clubs, it’s almost certain Crichton won’t entertain a move to another NRL team. The controversial R360 is also a non-starter with Crichton uninterested in joining the breakaway league.
