McIlroy would have regained the world number one ranking with a win, but finished one shot behind Lucas Glover and Patrick Cantlay
Rory McIlroy missed out on Sunday’s play-off at the St Jude Championship by one shot after finishing in a tie for third with Tommy Fleetwood.
McIlroy is now within 432 points of Rahm ahead of this weekend’s BMW Championship with the Holywood native aiming to retain his FedEx Cup title from last season. "Tee to green, I felt really good. As I said back at The Open, I found something at the Travelers and it's just been a continuation of that,” said McIlroy.
