Alexi Baker is one of two candidates up for election at the company’s AGM as it tries to rebuild the game and change its fortunes.
Already a subscriber?Rugby Australia is planning to appoint a former rugby league executive to its board of directors in a bid to give the embattled sport some fresh experience to help rebuild the game and change its fortunes.
“She has recently retired from her executive role and has indicated to me that she would be looking to step down from the RA board later this year to focus on her board career.”Ms Baker, who left the NRL late last year, was responsible for strategy at Nine Entertainment, the owner ofShe was most recently the chief customer and digital officer of the NRL and also sits on the board of ASX-listed Global Traffic Network.
The appointments were ultimately decided by the nominations’ committee, which is led by Mr Herbert, but are subject to a vote by Rugby Australia’s stakeholders – the Super Rugby clubs, state unions and players association. No formal decision about his reelection has been made by any club or state union and there is every chance that stakeholders may support his reappointment if other issues regarding funding and capital are resolved.
