Now I know the kinds of things that will be being said internally at News about the Crikey case. I have been listening in to the self-justifying dialogue for years, and it is also made visible in the legal filings.
And it is a fair bet that most readers of News Corp publications in Australia don’t know that Crikey exists. But most defamation cases are not only about the letter of the law. They are usually more about politics and power.
