San Antonio Symphony’s season may end before 6-month-old strike is resolved
, where the symphony is one of the resident companies. Five performances have been postponed so far and 10 have been canceled.
“As is the case when any is set to expire, a successor agreement has to be hammered out,” said Richard Oppenheim, president of Local 23 of the American Federation of Musicians, the union negotiating on behalf of the musicians. “It’s always preferable that this happens while the current CBA is in force, but it’s still the case even if the current agreement lapses.”
The musicians and the board began working with federal mediators Feb. 14 and have met three times so far.
