A body has been found after a teenage swimmer was reported missing at Freshwater beach last night. 7NEWS
The man’s body was recovered at 9.25am at Freshwater beach, more than 12 hours after he went missing.Watch the latest news and stream for free onThe body is yet to be formally identified, but police are liaising with the missing man’s family.
The discovery comes after emergency services were called to Freshwater beach at about 8.15pm on Saturday following reports of an 18-year-old man who had gone missing.The men contacted emergency services when they returned to shore and failed to locate the 18-year-old. An extensive search operation of the beach and the surrounding area commenced shortly after, which covered North Curl Curl headland along the coastline to Bluefish Point and further out to sea.
The search involved officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command, the Marine Area Command, Surf Life Saving NSW, Marine Rescue, PolAir and the Toll Ambulance Rescue Helicopter. Marine Area Command and Marine Rescue vessels patrolled the water overnight, while local police patrolled the beach.
