Venues are weighing up asking patrons to tell them in advance if they definitely won't be eating their greens as the price of groceries rises.
He said while salads wouldn't be ending any time soon, the rising cost of basic foodstuffs — especially lettuce, but also meat and seafood — couldn't be ignored.He said iceberg lettuce was gaining a lot of attention.
"We are really big meat eaters and we don't eat very many vegetables — less than 10 per cent of our population meets the recommendations for fruit and vegetable consumption." "We eat with our eyes, don't we? It needs to look appetising and you need to want to eat it," she said.
