More volunteer-run tuckshops are closing down and being replaced by private companies, leading to higher prices and less healthy menus, according to P&Cs Queensland.
P&Cs Queensland is warning more tuckshops are on the brink of financial collapse due to rising costs and a lack of volunteers.P&Cs Queensland is asking more parents and grandparents to volunteer at their local school tuckshop.
He said these for-profit providers typically had higher prices and offered less healthy options than P&C-run tuckshops. He said P&C services often provided free services to children from financially struggling families that could not afford uniforms or school lunches.He said P&Cs were struggling to get enough volunteers to fill their executive positions such as treasurer and secretary.
