All schools, including additional support needs schools and early learning and childcare centres attached to schools, will be closed to pupils. In Dumbarton and the Vale of Leven, Andrew B Cameron, Brucehill, Dalmonach and Ferryfield nurseries will remain open.
Schools and some nurseries in West Dunbartonshire will close from today for three days as hundreds of staff go on strike.
“Your children’s safety is our priority and while we share your frustrations, we can only open school buildings to pupils and young people when we are confident we have the key members of employees required to keep children safe.” One Bonhill mum said the strikes would be a “real struggle” but said she supported the workers’ right to strike.
Unison say the vast majority of local government staff are being offered 5.5 percent which is only 0.5 percent more than Cosla’s original offer, which was made almost six months ago and rejected by Unison members.
