Two of three unions called off strike action, but the largest of the trio vows to go ahead.
Three days of strikes in Renfrewshire schools will go ahead from tomorrow after a last-minute pay offer was rejected.
The GMB and Unite unions announced that they have suspended planned strikes on the same dates as they consult their members over the offer. The dedicated team of experienced journalists, responsible for the publication of the award-winning Express, will focus on breaking news, day and night, across Renfrewshire’s towns and villages.
Cosla’s resources spokesperson, Councillor Katie Hagmann, said: “I am extremely disappointed with the news from Unison that not only are they recommending rejection of this half-a-billion pay package – they are putting our communities, especially our children and young people, through the turmoil and mayhem of strikes next week with their actions.
Keir Greenaway, GMB Scotland senior organiser in public services, said “it is absolutely right” members are consulted on the new offer. He expressed his frustration that it took until the eve of strikes for an “offer worth discussing” to be made.
