The desperate search for a man missing in crocodile-infested waters in Queensland ’s far north has moved to a recovery phase, as searches of the river continue. The decision was made one week after Adam Yunkaporta, 60, was last seen leaving his home about midday on January 30 to go fishing near the mouth of the Ward, Watson and Archer rivers in Aurukun . No sign of Yunkaporta has been found since, according to police.

“On February 5, police met with Aurukun Shire Council and the man’s immediate family to provide an update on the search area,” police said. “Shortly after, police informed up to 300 community members gathered at the council chambers that the search had moved to a recovery phase, and was being informed by gathered intelligence, and proven search and rescue techniques. “The community is thanked for their ongoing co-operation.
