Detailed information about COVID cases, deaths and vaccination rates across the state will instead be detailed in weekly surveillance reports posted on the NSW Health website.A NSW Health spokesperson said the "time had come" for the department to pull back its level of reporting on COVID cases and deaths.Daily COVID updates from NSW Health have been an important feature of the pandemic since the virus first entered Australia in January 2020.
When Ms Berejiklian announced the end of the daily press conference in September last year, her decision was met with significant backlash from concerned NSW residents. But high vaccination rates and the government's changing approach to COVID-19 have seen changes in community attitudes too.
