“But this will not be the last wave. And we will continue to have to plan for that, be ready to know when that’s happening and to respond to it accordingly.” The vaccine can prevent the transmission of the virus and can be administered after exposure. Mr Butler said it was more user-friendly than the second-generation vaccine, which is already in the national medical stockpile.
Anyone in these risk categories who was planning to travel to a country experiencing a significant outbreak was also recommended to receive a vaccine four to six weeks before departure.
