ABC News Breakfast reporter Charles Brice tested positive to COVID-19 and spent two weeks in hospital recovering. Here's what he discovered along the way.

The sound of my phone ringing filled the room as I wiped my nose in preparation to answer the call.

The previous weekend I had visited Melbourne for a few days, seeing friends, my News Breakfast colleagues and attending an appointment. That morning I went to work and did a live cross to News Breakfast about state politics outside the front of Parliament House, a busy thoroughfare for people that work in the city. With just a runny nose as my only symptom, I reluctantly went for a test, believing that it would be negative just like the two before it.The next four hours consisted of back-to-back phone calls to SA Health, as well as to family and friends to let them know of my diagnosis.

By day three, my illness had worsened and the realisation of how serious this virus was had sunk in, despite COVID-19 being a daily topic of conversation at work and life in general.
