A young girl critically injured in a house fire while celebrating her 5th birthday has died in hospital, in a devastating new blow to a family already mourning her younger sister who was killed in the same horrific blaze. Jordan was hurt in the fire which sparked in the loungeroom of a home in Rokeby, Hobart, on Sunday morning and “passed away overnight”. “Our thoughts are with the girls’ family and loved ones at this difficult time,” Tasmania Police said.
Police said neighbours broke windows of the house to try to get people out. “Without their assistance, this tragedy could have been even worse,” Tasmania Police Inspector Andrew Keane said. “The Rokeby community is a very tight community, always looking out for each other. “We’ve had a lot of offers of help from people in the street already.” ‘Terrible things’ Emergency services personnel who were first on the scene were “devastated”. “They’re human beings.
