Experienced hiker Hadi Nazari remains missing in Kosciuszko National Park after six days. A multi-agency search is underway, but the hiker has not been located.
Hadi Nazari, an experienced hiker, has been missing in Kosciuszko National Park since Thursday, December 28th. His two friends, who were hiking with him, reported him missing when he didn't arrive at the Geehi campground as expected. Police commenced a search that night, which has since expanded into a multi-agency operation involving the NSW Police, National Parks and Wildlife Service, SES, NSW Ambulance, VRA and POLAir.
A helicopter with infra-red capabilities has been deployed to assist in the search, but so far, Nazari has not been located. Nazari's sister, Zahra Nazari, expressed concern for her brother's safety, stating that the lack of contact has been the 'biggest trauma' of her life. She fears the remote area may pose threats from insects or animals. Police have stated that Nazari is an experienced hiker carrying camping equipment and appropriate clothing for the conditions
