An Adelaide snake-catcher made a career-first discovery this week: a red-bellied black snake cooked to death in the extreme heat. Rolly Burrell from Snake Catchers Adelaide responded to a call from a homeowner who spotted the snake moving erratically in the Willunga suburb. By the time Burrell arrived, the snake was deceased, its body severely dried out. This unusual find highlights the vulnerability of snakes to extreme temperatures, with Burrell explaining that they can only withstand temperatures up to 33-35C. The incident also serves as a reminder for residents to be cautious during heatwaves, as snakes may seek cooler spots inside homes.
