The Socceroos are set to face newly crowned World Player of the year Lionel Messi in the 2020 Copa America
after being drawn against co-hosts Argentina in next year's tournament.
Australia's first appearance in the tournament will see them face Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay and Bolivia after being drawn in the "south zone" group hosted by Argentina.Getty The Socceroos are one of two invitational teams participating in the 2020 Copa America alongside Asian champions Qatar, who were drawn in the "north zone" group hosted by Colombia. That group also contains reigning South American champions Brazil, as well as Peru, Venezuela and Ecuador.
The tournament begins on June 12, 2020, in Buenos Aires with the final to be held in Bogota a month later.
