Opinion: Social Security misconception: Letters
Letter writer Gary Gourley perpetuates the false notion that Social Security is an investment, like a pension plan. I was surprised to see that the newspaper printed this misconception.
The issue facing Social Security now is there are not enough workers to produce the required revenue to sustain the program. Not to mention the politicians have drained the SS trust fund, and replaced the funds with IOUs, which the taxpayers must also pay back.Re “New Assembly bills are the latest attacks on Prop. 13” :
Rather than trying to take every last drop of money from us via taxation, how about choosing responsible spending instead of going after us who are working hard and just trying to build financial security. Voters, please be vigilant and educated and watch out for ACA 1 and ACA 3. You do not want to lose the two-thirds majority to prevent taxation.Re “Why Adam Schiff won’t be senator” :
