Bodie Howland has sold more than 100 copies of his first book — a warm tale about his hometown of Exmouth in WA — and is already thinking of the next chapter in his writing career.

abc.net.au/news/wa-boy-writes-book-about-exmouth-earns-money/102445616At nine years old, Bodie Howland is a couple of decades younger than most of the other vendors at the Sunday markets in his hometown of Exmouth, Western Australia. The story is called The Love Hearts Explore Exmouth and is set in Bodie's hometown on the north-west coast.

Bodie says the story is about two love hearts who go on an adventure that includes a visit to the local bakery, heading out fishing and having a photo at the statue of the big prawn."They have the best day, and at the end, their hearts are really full with love, friendship, and memories they have made exploring Exmouth."He has already sold about 140 copies of the book.

"I was going to save up for virtual reality goggles with sticks, but I didn't think that was such a great idea because it probably would have been a waste of money," Brodie said. "Instead, I've got an electric scooter, and I ride around town, go to school and all that stuff with it."His dad Glenn Howland said Bodie had worked hard on the book."We just helped him along to do the printing and matched his money at the start."Mr Howland said a number of businesses had been happy to put the book on sale."I might make a second one, although it's not going to be called 'The Love Hearts Explore Exmouth Number Two," he said.
