A highly contested competition among eastern suburbs agents to list the Dover Heights residence of missing fraudster Melissa Caddick finally ended on Thursday night when Sotheby’s International was handed the plum job.
Receivers took the step of announcing the appointment of Sotheby’s Michael Pallier in a formal statement issued on Thursday night, indicating the extraordinary levels of public and media interest in the mystery of Caddick’s disappearance.Credit:Agents have been jostling for the job for more than six weeks since Caddick’s husband Anthony Koletti vacated the home, with at least two rounds of interviews and submissions to receivers Jones Partners.
The story of how Caddick, 49, defrauded her closest friends and family only to spend it on luxury dresses, jewellery and overseas holidays came to light after the corporate regulator ASIC raided her home in November 2020 in relation to a $23 million Ponzi scheme. The property last traded in 2014 for $6.2 million, which set a house record for the suburb at the time on a per square metre basis.
