Residents in parts of New South Wales can look forward to some relief from the scorching heat on Wednesday with a southerly buster likely to come into effect in the afternoon bringing with it extreme winds and the chance of severe thunderstorms.
Parts of New South Wales are likely to face an afternoon of extreme wind gusts, while temperatures are expected to drop significantly across the state as a southerly buster hits the coast.

By 6pm a cool change will likely sweep over south-east NSW bringing a cool change with temperatures to drop by a potential 7-10 degrees within an hour. Picture: Sky News Australia.
"The chance for severe thunderstorms will develop most likely into the afternoon about the central parts and continuing more likely into the evening in the northeast along the path of a southerly change," Ms Neuman said.
