Cattle stations around Alice Springs celebrate after consistent rain rejuvenates parched land at the weekend and the Todd River flows — a rare sight.
Steady rain, up to 200mm in some places, has fallen over a large portion of the southern Northern Territory, pleasing many cattle producers.Pastoralists are looking forward to fat, healthy cattle later in the season due to the rain.
"From now on it's right at the pointy end of the year, so over the worst of the hot weather, so it should be a bloody beautiful year," he said. Mr Gook said the muddy roads forced him to postpone trucking cattle and the season's first round muster, which would have started on Monday."But it hopefully means that when we can start moving some cattle around, they're going to be in a lot better condition and the cows will be able to sustain the calves for a little bit longer because they'll be feeling healthier and stronger and fatter," she said.
