Sam Walker will be free to play for the Roosters against the Panthers after the NRL re-categorised the severity of his head knock against South Sydney.
The Roosters are poised to have star halves Sam Walker and Luke Keary on deck against Penrith as they attempt to arrest a nine-game losing streak against the reigning premiers.
Both Walker and Keary took part in the club’s recovery training session on Sunday, with veteran Keary progressing through return-to-play protocols from his own heavy head knock in the match against Manly last Sunday and on track to play against the Panthers. A combined aggregate score of 108-243 underlines the Panthers’ domination against the NRL’s last back-to-back premiers going back to 2019, the year of the Roosters’ most recent premiership.Several sides have been winless against the all-conquering Panthers since their rise to four straight grand finals in 2020, but none of the Roosters’ pedigree.
Veteran enforcer Jared Waerea-Hargreaves clashed with now-suspended Roosters star Spencer Leniu repeatedly during the most recent loss to Penrith last June.
