Xbox chief marketing officer Jerret West says Starfield will start a 'multi-year relay race of first-party titles' for the company.
All eyes are currently fixed on Bethesda Game Studios as hopeful players eagerly wait to join Constellation when Starfield launches on September 6 or September 1 for early access players. It's a highly anticipated time for fans and for Xbox, and according to Xbox's chief marketing officer Jerret West, the space RPG kicks off a"multi-year relay race of first-party titles."GamesIndustry.
following a Starfield presentation at Gamescom, West says that"this is really the start of something that's going to then lead to Forza, then in 2024 as we go to Hellblade, and we think about Towerborne which is on the show floor, we think about Avowed, and we've got stories we haven't told yet as well, that are going to unfurl in 2024 and 2025.”
Turn 10 Studios is preparing to launch its upcoming racing sim, Forza Motorsport, on October 10, just over a month after Starfield lands in the hands of players. Bethesda's RPG is its first new IP in 25 years and it could have the potential to become Xbox Game Studios' flagship RPG. Turn 10, on the other hand, has a pretty strong track record with its racing sim series, so it would come as no surprise if Forza Motorsport is a great game.
"This very much feels like the starting gun for this relay pass that's going to take place over the next couple of years. So as a marketer, I'm super excited about that. And then if you layer in also, Game Pass and the third-party relationships that we have... Our third-party support that rolls into Game Pass – but also is just on our platform – is critically important too.
