Smith had taken off for a leg bye but on each occasion was sent back to the striker's end by Llong.
A demonstrative Smith protested to Llong during the over and sought further clarification from the English umpire as players and officials left the field for lunch. He did not appear happy with the umpire's explanation, shaking his head as he left the conversation.Smith was struck on the hip on the first occasion, then the back later in the over.
Under the ICC's code of conduct, players can be charged for "excessive, obvious disappointment with an umpire's decision" or "arguing or entering into a prolonged discussion with the umpire about his/her decision". Smith was docked 25 per cent of his match fee after a Sheffield Shield game for NSW against Queensland last month.
