Steven Alker, playing for late caddie Sam Workman, defends his Insperity Invitational title

Alker’s son Ben was on the bag for the first time.

The field was chasing Alker, and the New Zealander was not to be caught. Alker led throughout the final round. Back-to-back birdies on 11 and 12 pushed his lead to 4 shots. Playing in the final grouping with Ernie Els and Matt Gogel, Alker took a three-shot lead into the final round. Ben Alker made his debut this week caddying for his father, wearing a bucket hat bearing an Astros emblem. Alker had a ribbon attached to his cap in remembrance of Workman. In honor of Workman, all players wore an Astros ribbon.
