An evacuation is under way in the Northumberland town after a river burst its banks amid heavy rain.
Locals living in a flood-hit town in Northumberland are being evacuated after a river burst its banks following heavy rain during Storm Babet.Councillor Steven Bridgett said water levels had reached 2.75 metres , significantly higher than the forecasted peak of 2.4 metres .across swathes of northern England, including much of the north-east.
"We are asking people to leave their properties at the Maltings... residents are leaving their properties at the riverside. He said many affected residents were being found alternative accommodation or staying with friends and family.
