A meticulous rescue operation has resulted in the safe capture of an adventurous sheep who was lost in a Melbourne reservoir for more than six months.

After weeks of planning, Sugar the sheep was safely captured by an expert team of volunteers in Sugarloaf Reservoir in Melbourne's north-east.

After a vet examination and a good shearing, Sugar was ready for her new home at Forever Friends Animal Sanctuary.
