The comedian will be a guest at her former morning TV stomping ground when it celebrates 2000 episodes. Don’t under-estimate how hard the live show can be. studio10

Well, I’m not, because I really didn’t hang out at Studio 10 for that long. I’d barely arrived as a host when I was off again, because I really couldn’t handle the travel. The studio’s in Sydney and I live in Melbourne. I thought going to Sydney every second week would be fantastic, because I quite like my own company. I thought a week in a hotel room – as much as I love my partner, John – fantastic! And then from week one, I found myself feeling lonely.

Studio 10’s 2018 presenters Angela Bishop, Denise Drysdale, Joe Hildebrand, Denise Scott and Sarah Harris.I’m really glad for it, because my skin is in a dreadful state. I love a false eyelash — gosh, they make your eyes pop. People always look amazed when they see me in my natural state, as though I’ve aged terribly overnight.

Yes, but the point of speaking on that show is to be funny or witty. It’s not actually to prove that you do know anything. It’s nice if you do. I find it an extremely competitive show – it really pushes you to bring your best game; you don’t want to go on it and be a dud. There’s nowhere to hide. There’s no advertorial to hide behind.

Do you ever come off the set looking at the other players thinking, “yeah, I really crushed you tonight”? Hmmm. I don’t believe I have. I’ve come off and felt the opposite, like, wow, where was my brain? What happened? But yeah, why not, I’ve crushed Sam Pang. By intelligent wit.Honestly, my jaw just dropped. Because my immediate answer is “it’s never been easy”. But in fact, in my day-to-day life, it is quite easy. And it was my role as a kid to be funny, and that was the role I had in my family and with friends. So I developed it and that felt quite easy.
