Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium is set to host the NRL’s showpiece event in front of a capacity crowd with regional centres in Queensland, the likes of Rockhampton, Townsville and Mackay also given a dose of finals football.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk hailed the announcement as a show of the NRL’s commitment to state that “love its footy”.
“I’m very pleased to announce today that the Queensland government has reached agreement with the NRL to host the series of finals and the Grand Final at Suncorp Stadium,” she said. “As part of this historic deal, there will be regional games; we were very keen to ensure that parts of Queensland, especially regional Queensland, and I know how much Queenslanders love their footy, were able to get a share in this glory.
“This is about the NRL’s commitment to all of Queensland, how much this state loves its footy and just as we helped out the AFL last year, we are very pleased to step up and help out this year – we are very pleased of the cooperation with the NRL.”Read More
