An empty car was dragged off the road and into floodwaters before being sucked out by an unstoppable torrent in the Illawarra's Stanwell Park as the storm rapidly swept through this afternoon.
The destructive storm has also caused delays at Sydney Airport with departing planes taking off 50 minutes later and arriving planes being more than an hour behind schedule.More storm cells hitting Sydney after the destruction in the Illawarra. "The weather system we're monitoring has the potential to move into the metropolitan parts of Sydney and could be problematic during peak hour traffic," NSW SES Colin Malone said.A huge 380mm fell in Greenwell Point overnight, including 178mm in two hours from 4am this morning.
