Friend Tracy Chapman has given an insight into how Kathleen Folbigg started her new chapter as a free woman on Monday night, after being pardoned and released from jail over the deaths of her four children.

The 55-year-old mother was convicted two decades ago for killing Patrick, Sarah and Laura, and the manslaughter of Caleb when they were aged between 19 days and 19 months.

However, fresh scientific evidence from an inquiry found there was"reasonable doubt as to the guilt of Ms Folbigg for each of the offences for which she was originally tried". "I can't actually say anything more than it was a surreal day, we just kind of enjoyed each other's company, she spent a lot of time with my dogs and getting to know my animals and we didn't get our steak for dinner which was a bugger," she said.

Ms Chapman described reuniting with Ms Folbigg as"surreal", revealing she was surrounded by loved ones on Monday night and enjoyed pizza and garlic bread. Picture: Supplied The 55-year-old woke up on Monday morning at the farm beaming, with her"face muscles hurting so much" from smiling ear-to-ear since leaving prison

"We are taking it one step at a time but in due course we will certainly be thinking about all options available to her."
