The 65-year-old man arrested in connection with the stabbing of two women in Melbourne almost 50 years ago is set to arrive in the city on Tuesday night, following his successful extradition from Rome by the Homicide Squad.

Armstrong’s 16-month-old son was located unharmed in his cot when police discovered the two women’s bodies. He was arrested in September at Rome's Leonardo da Vinci Airport under an Interpol Red Notice, almost 50 years after the murders. It's understood Mr Kouroumblis had been working in Athens, having left Australia and relocating to Greece in 2016.

Perry Kouroumblis, has been arrested over the stabbing of two Melbourne women almost half a century ago, will touch down in Melbourne on Tuesday night after the Homicide Squad successfully extradited the man from Rome.
