Sutton was reported for saying Matt O'Riley had 'some balls' after his Panenka against Rangers.
Chris Sutton has been cleared by OFCOM after the broadcasting regulator received three complaints over his 'some balls' comment about Matt O'Riley.
Sutton was on Sky Sports commentary during their clash with Rangers, which saw O'Riley double Celtic's lead from the penalty spot with an audacious Panenka chip. Sutton said after it: "What a nerve from Matt O'Riley. Panenka. That is courageous. Celtic have not got a good record from penalties this season but you've got to have some balls to do that in this fixture."
The comment was reported to OFCOM three times. But Sutton has been officially cleared after it was found not to be inappropriate, nor did it breach 'generally accepted standards'. They didn't feel it merited an investigation into Sky Sports' role in the comment as an OFCOM spokesperson said: "A brief remark made during the game’s commentary did not raise issues warranting investigation under our rules.
