But the virus was “amplified” in the club’s gym, where a number of people contracted the virus before returning to their workplaces and homes while infectious. Their close contacts then further spread the virus via their mixing in the community, Dr Chant said. People are considered casual contacts if they attended any of the following venues at the corresponding times: The Metro Fuel, Greystanes on August 27, 3.15pm to 3.35pm; The Big Bun, 260 Pitt Street, Merrylands on August 27, 3.30pm to 4.30pm; The Carslaw Building toilets at the University of Sydney on August 28 from 8pm to 8.20pm; Stocklands at Merrylands on August 29 from 9am to 11am; Bus 810 on August 28 departing St Paul’s Catholic College, Greystanes at 3.
There are 75 COVID patients being treated by NSW Health, including five in intensive care, three of whom are ventilated. In Queensland, two new cases were reported on Wednesday, a student at Staines Memorial College in Redbank Plains, Brisbane and a healthcare worker in her 30s. Both were close contacts of previous patients and bring the Brisbane youth detention cluster to 28 cases.
