Sydney Airport staff are preparing for chaos, with hundreds of thousands of travellers expected over the final weekend of the school holidays.

More than 300,000 people are expected to fly over the weekend, with airlines attempting to keep up with demand.

“On-time performance is obviously a little bit challenged at the moment,” Sydney Airport General Manager Operations Greg Hay said. Qantas, Virgin, and Jetstar have been struggling to improve their on-time performance, ranking poorly when measured against 130 airlines. The airport has managed to fill hundreds of positions since launching its recruitment drive, but there are still thousands more open, which are going to be crucial to getting operations running smoothly again.
