The Sky Blues' premiership title defence is on track, recording their third consecutive win in the A-League Women's competition on Sunday.

Sydney FC have continued their perfect start to the A-League Women's season, defeating Wellington Phoenix 3-0 to go first ahead of Melbourne Victory on goal difference.Wellington are currently eighth with one point and the second-highest goals concededThe Sky Blues dominated the league's newest and youngest team from the opening whistle.

Wellington grew into the game somewhat in the middle stage of the first half, pressing Sydney's midfield and creating incisive one-two passes through the Sky Blues' lines. Wellington also suffered from a few player mishaps, with striker Kelli Brown — who had been kept on the sidelines with a thigh problem in the opening rounds — substituted just before half-time with an injury flare-up.

New recruit Maria "Cote" Rojas almost made it four in the dying stages, turning on the tekkers to round a Wellington defender, but her shot came off the post.
