The government tax has gone up 7.7 per cent from $151 per 60 tonne to $163.20 in it's largest ever rise.

"It is a significant amount of money that's been burdened on ratepayers not just in Liverpool but all of NSW," Mannoun said."At the moment Sydney has a big problem with waste. By 2030, landfills will fill up," Mannoun said. Fairfield Mayor Frank Carbone said if the money went back to council, they would be happy to reduce rates.
