Sydney Symphony Orchestra fires back at former CEO after claims of political ‘hit job’ | LindaMorrissmh

When Sydney Symphony Orchestra’s former chief executive Emma Dunch was sacked last December she alleged she was the victim of a “hit job”., rather than the dismissal itself, that damaged Dunch’s own professional reputation and career prospects, the SSO claims, according to court documents filed in Dunch’s unfair dismissal case.

Dunch contends her case goes back to the allegations of a female musician who in May 2021 had come forward to say she had been sexually assaulted by another performer. On that day, Dunch said she had sought medical help for anxiety to manage the “high-stress effects of the employment”. The findings of the report into SSO’s workplace culture is due to be “shared” mid-year, its chairman said in the newly posted annual report.

She again sought “emergency medical assistance as a result of new vicarious trauma and continuing anxiety symptoms”, and made a formal complaint. In December, her employment was terminated with immediate effect.
