A Sydney woman has died at her home in the city’s west after she tested positive for COVID-19 amid the state’s escalating Delta outbreak.
The fatality is the 75th in New South Wales since the start of the latest outbreak in June and brings the total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic to 131.“NSW Health extends its deepest sympathies to her loved ones,” a NSW Health spokesperson told Sky News Australia.
The death will be included in Wednesday’s figures and comes after the state recorded 753 cases with figures dropping below the 800 mark. It comes as Premier Gladys Berejiklian vowed to roll back some restrictions in September with a limited reopening of retail stores on the cards for businesses in NSW hit hard by the lockdown.
She ruled out reopening pubs and allowing"Tinder hook-ups" but said restrictions would be eased in a bid to maximise wellbeing.
