Taiwan's Foreign Minister said China has unleashed a barrage of ballistic missiles in response to U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit as part of a game-plan for invasion.

Speaking at a press conference in Taipei on Tuesday, Joseph Wu said his country won’t be intimidated - even as China conducts military drills for a fifth day in a row in waters and air space around Tawian.

"It is conducting large-scale military exercises and missile launches, as well as cyberattacks, disinformation and economic coercion in an attempt to weaken public morale in Taiwan. "After the drills conclude, China may try to routinise its action in an attempt to wreck the long-term status quo across the Taiwan Strait," he said.

While Mr Wu fears China is planning an invasion, on Monday a Pentagon official said that the United States government is standing by its assessment that China won’t attempt a takeover in the next two years.
